Winter vehicles by budget
Don’t blink or you’ll miss fall! Winter is on it’s way and before you know it we’ll all be doing fun things like scraping off our windshields. This also means driving in snow and ice.
Hopefully you have winter tire plans, but have you considered picking up a winter vehicle that simply performs better in these conditions? There are great vehicles, at virtually every price point, that are built to handle the rough roads and corrosion that comes with this harsh season.
$2,000 – $5,000
The closer your budget gets to $5,000, your options are opened up to more available cars and some SUVs with heated seats, rear window wipers and defrosters, traction control, and other winter necessities.
If winter driving is the only thing on your mind, we suggest not dipping too far below $5,000 as you’re less likely to find winter-optimized options.
$5,000 – $10,000
As we know, SUVs are the best choice for a winter vehicle and this range is sweet spot to find a great SUV that won’t break the bank. SUVs often come with many useful features such as All Wheel Drive to keep you safe on slippery surfaces.
$10,000 – $15,000
If you have your heart seat on a sedan, they come equipped with more luxury and safety features at this price point including a back-up camera, overhead airbags, and fully automatic headlights. Sedans also have better handling than larger vehicles in case you need to make some emergency maneuvers.
While SUVs are better for many reasons, you do have options.
$20,000+
The sky’s the limit with a $20,000+ budget, as you’re inclined to see many more newer vehicles with little mileage and wear. The vehicles do tend to get a bit bigger as well; more weight = more traction in snowy conditions, in addition to increased ground clearance for those inevitable snow drifts. Not to mention more room for your winter sport gear!
Set yourself up for a painless winter by pairing your new vehicle with winter tires for maximum safety and reliability. Check out all of our in-stock vehicles that fit your budget, and get in touch for a test drive or to chat winter optimization.
